Learners will:

  1. Define the features of formative evaluation 

  2. Delineate differences between norm and criterion referenced testing

  3. Investigate alternative assessments

  4. Identify the value of validity and reliability in assessment.

  5. Distinguish between various forms of assessment items.

  6. Develop assessment items to determine student achievement of learning objectives.

Assignment

  1. Identify student assessment items to be included in your instructional design.  Make sure these items are appropriately linked to your objectives and appropriate for your learners.

  2. Develop one or more assessment items for each objective in your design.  Apply at least three different forms of assessment items using a combination of constructed and discrimination response approaches.  Keep in mind issues of authenticity and generative leaning.  Remember to identify your grading criteria.
