Repeated Reading

After the class lesson on Repeated Reading, try this.

Procedure to implement Strategy Instruction

  1. Select a new strategy to be learned.
  2. Talk about what the strategy is, what it is like, and give reading examples.
  3. Teacher models the new strategy by talking out loud how she reads the text and paying attention to the targeted strategy.
  4. Students use the targeted reading strategy and talking out loud about the
    problem-solving strategy.
  5. Teacher coaches the strategic thinking of the students.
  6. Students and teacher discuss the strategy and assess effectiveness on their reading.

Strategy Presentation:

bulletPresentation follows the procedure of how to teach a student/s a strategy.
bulletPresentation will be a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes.
bulletYour presentation will be streamed into the class website.
bulletPresentation will be in the Star classroom KC 112, so you will have available a method of taping your presentation, a SmartBoard and a document camera. 
bulletResearch on the strategy needs to be beyond the textbook
