·     So giving options works – don’t ask them IF they want to do something!

·     Play-doh can be used for tons of things

o   Working with letters, sounds, syllables

·     Shakers with rhyming words

·     Use alternative stories

·     Visualization strategies

·     Discussion during reading

·     Make sure to practice activities to make sure students can do it

·     Remember days of the week song!

·     Sign language might be a good management tool!

o    Techniques to demonstrate who is helping for activities

o    Having students use binoculars to search for letters in stories

o    Having students write the letter lets the student come up with their ideas

-shared writing

o    Do a picture walk

o    Add definitions of unknown words into the story

o    Learned how important movement is in the classroom

o    Telling stories without the barrier of a book between you and your students

o    When ask to brainstorm …don’t write everything on the board because they will just copy it down, instead of coming up with their own ideas

o    Don’t ask students if they want to do an activity either just do it or give them a choice between 2 things you want them to do.
