Hello
students;
Welcome to DSU's graduate program in educational technology. And, welcome to LT 716 Systematic Design of Instruction. I am Mark Hawkes and I will be your partner as we work through this study of instructional design. I look forward to working with you in this class where we'll take an in depth look at the instructional design process, and how we might use it to create optimum conditions needed for learning. More about that later. For now, take some time to become familiar with the web site. This will be our base of operation. The topics listed to the left of the page are units of study that we'll work together on through the semester. Each has its own introduction, readings, assignments and discussion. The buttons at the top of the page take you to resources and information you'll need in the class. Since we'll be working from a distance, you'll also need to have access to the communication tools that we use. For our synchronous chats--the first of which will be Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 8:30 p.m., we'll use Microsoft's Netmeeting. If you haven't already downloaded Netmeeting, setup instructions and a tutorial are available at: http://www.courses.dsu.edu/facultydev/netmeeting/default.htm I also encourage you to purchase an inexpensive microphone for your PC so that we can experiment with computer-supported audio group communication. Start your tour of the course web site with the video clip below. Then after that, complete the brief "about you" form. I look forward to our learning experience together. --mark
