Sequence and Strategies of Designing Instruction
Instructional Design
Strategies (1:36)
Learning Objectives
Learners will:
-
Identify three different types of sequencing
schemes.
-
Select a sequencing strategy that best matches the
instructional content to the learners expectations.
-
Relate how instructional strategies evolve from
instructional objectives.
-
Apply
both presentation and generative strategies to make content meaningful
to the learner.
Readings
-
Morrison, Ross,
and Kemp, Chapters 6 & 7.
-
Designing the
Sequence of Instruction, Niki Fardouly, University of New South
Wales.
-
Optional:
Understanding
how Teachers Plan: Strategies for Successful Instructional
Partnerships, Linda Wolcott. Accurate or not, this is an
interesting take on the teacher conducted instructional design.
The author encourages a partnership curriculum planning approach.

Strategies - Kelly Rowan
Assignments
In preparation for
completion of design document number two, work with your instructional
design team to identify and appropriately sequence instructional
strategies. Be sure to indicate what rationale you used to conduct
your sequencing, and work carefully to ensure that each instructional
strategy directly relates to the instructional objective it originates
from. You will include your instructional strategies and sequencing with
the methods you identify in next weeks unit in the form of design document
two. Discussion
Team Chat to work on
instructional sequencing: at a time during the week convenient for all
members. And class chat to overview key concepts for mid-term
quiz. (Transcripts)
